Realme 14 Pro+ Phone Review

Realme 14 Pro+ Phone Review

Unboxing

The Realme 14 Pro+ comes in one of Realme’s signature yellow boxes, and it’s slimmer than before. That’s because there’s no power adapter as part of the retail package.

Realme says that any universal USB-PD charger will give you at least 50W, but you may need an 80W SuperVOOC adapter to achieve the maximum charging speed.

Inside you’ll find a 12A USB-A-C cable and a soft, dark grey protective case.

Design

The Realme 14 Pro+ has a distinctive design, the result of Realme’s collaboration with Danish industrial design studio Valeur Designers, which has worked on Bang & Olufsen products for many years. The two companies developed a process to make the phones’ seashell-like back panels unique, and what’s more, they contain cold-sensitive fibres that change colour when exposed to temperatures below 16 degrees Celsius.

The Realme 14 Pro+ is also the first phone in the series to feature full water protection. It has an IP66 rating for dust and water jet resistance and an IP68 rating for submersion in water for up to 30 minutes in water up to 1.5 metres deep. Realme claims that in its own tests, the phone was good to survive up to 48 hours underwater at a depth of 2 metres.

It also comes with an IP69 rating, which means it can survive even high-pressure water jets.

And if that’s not enough, there’s also US MIL-STD-810H shock resistance thanks to the reinforced internals and chassis.

The Pearl White panel we have for review here is made of plastic and is soft to the touch. It hides fingerprints very well.

The other colour available is Suede Grey, which has a back covered in vegan leather – a material reminiscent of vegan leather but with a much softer feel and smoother to the touch.

To add to the excitement, when the temperature drops below 16°C (61°F), vibrant blue swirls appear on the Realme 14 Pro+’s shell-like back. Once the temperature rises, it quickly changes to an ivory white. Note that Realme calls this a “bonus feature” – the effect fades over time as sunlight degrades it. It’s expected to last for around 12 months under normal use.

Camera

The Realme 14 Pro+ features a triple camera on the back similar to the Realme 13 Pro+. There’s a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical image stabilization, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. All but the 3x telephoto camera use new sensors and optics. The front camera even has autofocus capabilities, which is great.

Performance and Software

The Realme 14 Pro+ runs Android 15 with Realme UI 6 (the Color OS 15 variant). The update policy for the global model has yet to be announced, but in India, Realme has committed to two major OS upgrades and three years of security patches for the 14 Pro+.

In recent times, both Realme UI and OnePlus’ Oxygen OS have become just another incarnation of Oppo’s Color OS, with minor stylistic tweaks here and there – a branded font and some color accents, really. AI features are largely shared between the brands.

Conclusion

We see from our side that the phone does not offer any innovation from the previous generation and does not deserve an upgrade from the previous version

We wished to change the processor in the phone to a higher processor, but the phone is good overall

Realme 14 Pro Plus Phone Price
